While I have participated in various service events throughout the last few years, the Appalachia fall break service trip I went on as a sophomore was by far the most memorable.  Offered as a one credit seminar through the Center for Social Concerns, the Appalachia trips are well known and popular throughout campus.  Every fall and spring break, groups of students travel to various locations throughout the Appalachian region and complete various projects meant to help the local communities.  The goal of these trips is not only to serve others, but to learn more about Appalachia and how we can do our part to dispel stereo types about the region and raise awareness about its need for help and preservation.
