Dr. Lucero is an academic advisor for first-year students who intend to pursue a major in architecture. She also advises students in the Balfour-Hesburgh Scholars Program. Prior to joining the School of Architecture as a first-year advisor, Dr. Lucero was Associate Advising Professor in the College of the First Year of Studies. In this role, she worked with students exploring majors in all disciplines including those in the School of Architecture, the Colleges of Science, Arts and Letters, Engineering, and the Mendoza College of Business.
Dr. Lucero also serves as Co-Director of the Balfour-Hesburgh Scholars Program, an initiative that promotes intellectual engagement, leadership, and service opportunities for students from underrepresented groups and first-generation students. In addition, she is a faculty advisor to the student production team that stages an annual performance of monologues, titled Show Some Skin, about race, gender, class, mental health, physical disability, and other aspects of identity.
A 1984 graduate of Notre Dame with a B.A. in English and American Studies, Dr. Lucero holds a Master's degree in English literature from the University of Colorado-Boulder (1992) and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Michigan (2002).
