As a faculty member in the First Year of Studies (FYS), Darlene Hampton has a number of responsibilities beyond providing one-on-one advising to her students. These activities are meant to enhance the experience of Notre Dame undergraduates as well as the practice of academic advising more generally.
They currently include:
- Coordinating the First Year of Studies Research Ignition program. As part of ND Ignite, the Research Ignition program provides funding support to first year students engaging in research, service, and other scholarly activities.
- Teaching courses on gender, media, and fan cultures in the department of American Studies.
- Engaging in scholarship in the area of feminist media studies.
