Biological Sciences I is a course strongly recommended for Biological Science major intents. The course is team taught and covers the following:
- Biological Molecules
- Cell Structure and Signaling
- Gene Expression and Regulation
- Developmental Biology
- Cells and Energy
- Cell Cycle and Genetic Inheritance
- Gene Mutation and Molecular Medicine
- Evolution and Species Formation
- Evolution and Development
I believe that this course has set me on the right track in pursuit of my mission statement. The foundations in this class gives me a baseline for research, other classes, and general medical knowledge.
A Corequisite for Biological Sciences I is the Biological Sciences I - Lab. This lab will appear as a seperate course on my transcript because it does not necessarily coincide with my coursework. The lab portion of Biological Science I covers the following:
- Size Exclusion Chromatography
- Charge Exclusion Chromatography
- Sodium Doecyl Sulfate Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis
- Electrophoretic Separation of Native Proteins
- Polymerase Chain Reaction
- Human DNA Isolation
- Recombinant DNA Isolation
- Application of Molecular Genetics in Cancer Detection
- Group Research Projects
- Research Symposium
