As a faculty member in the First Year of Studies (FYS), Lemrow has a number of responsibilities beyond providing one-on-one advising to her students. These activities are meant to enhance the experience of Notre Dame undergraduates as well as the practice of academic advising more generally.

 

They currently include:

 

  • Teaching the First Year of Studies (FYS) course “Language and Identity in a Global World”
  • Participating in the Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED) seminar, the nation’s largest peer-led leadership development project
  • Presenting at the annual research symposium sponsored by Notre Dame’s Graduate Student Union and Office for Postdoctoral Scholars
  • Researching and writing working papers related to the first-year college experience, multiraciality, and expanding notions of literacy
  • Serving as the faculty sponsor of the FYS Coffee Break Scholars program
  • Participating in the Ethnography Forum hosted by the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education
