Dear First Year Students,
The purpose of this email is to introduce you to the First Year of Studies Advising ePortfolio Initiative and the eportfolios all first-year students will use as a part of their advising program.
Building an eportfolio offers you a means of working closely with your academic advisors to plan your career at Notre Dame. The eportfolio can help you strategize about how to make the most of your time here. You can explore opportunities and set goals concerning what you want out of your undergraduate years, as well as plan strategies for making use of the resources ND offers to achieve those goals. This advising eportfolio can easily be copied or converted into a showcase eportfolio (a digital multi-media resume) that you can use to apply for study abroad, grants, internships, graduate school, and your first jobs.
Completing your advising eportfolio will involve five assignments. Each will take about 15 minutes to complete, and you will receive an email to prompt you to complete each one. In case you'd like to look at them, the assignments are described in detail on the Assignments tab in the FYS Advising ePortfolio Resources website.
Assignment 1: Create your eportfolio and build your Home page
Due: Submit on or before August 28th
Start now using the Getting Started link.
Before you have your first formal meeting with your advisor, he or she will email you to prompt you to do your next advising assignment, five pre-meeting questions to answer in your eportfolio.
The First Year of Studies hopes working on your eportfolio will contribute to a truly engaging first-year experience. Enjoy the process and enjoy the year.
