My name is Iciar Ocariz-Elsen and I am a Theology and Arabic double major originally from Spooner, Wisconsin.  I am a Resident Assistant in Badin Hall and enjoy running, cross-country skiing, reading, writing, gardening, cooking, singing, and being outside.  I began my college career intending to major in English and possibly Arabic, but changed my mind after taking my first required theology course. The readings I had to do for that foundations course engaged me - intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually - in a way that nothing academic ever had.  Theology has the potential of informing and enriching every aspect of one's life and I see it as the perfect complement to any field of study.  My love for theology and Arabic led me to study abroad in the Holy Land last spring (I am outside of Mar Saba monastary in the picture above) where not only was I exposed to all three major monotheistic religions, but also to the richness of the Eastern Church.  This, along with my Spanish roots, has inspired my interest in multicultural ministry, which I hope to pursue after graduation.
