As a faculty member in the First Year of Studies (FYS), Sakimoto draws on his expertise in how people learn as well as his experience in educational outreach to work with both Notre Dame undergraduates and the general public in a variety of contexts.

 

His professional activities currently include:

 

  • Teaching a course (starting in spring 2016) in the sustainability minor offered by Notre Dame’s College of Science
  • Delivering public lectures on climate change through the national Climate Voices Science Speakers Network and various other organizations
  • Teaching a First Year of Studies course in the “Foundations of Academic Excellence”
  • Conducting workshops and providing individual consultations on improving academic performance
