Challenge 2: Poetry
Pulitzer Prize winner Cornelius Eady challenged the Renaissance Circle participants to write a poem and somehow get it out to the world. I accepted this challenge not only because I love writing poetry, but also because I believe exposure to the arts and beauty are key facets of education and life itself--they allow the mind to expand, grow, and imagine. I wrote this poem in an attempt to brighten everyone's day as the end of the school year approaches. Here is the text of the poem, with pictures below:
I bet you didn't know that this poem's just for you
To brighten up your day, and to bring a smile or two.
Now, this may sound quite corny, and forgive me if that's true,
But there's no one around here more special--more beautifully YOU--
than you!
