Arts & Letters Outcomes Matrix  

 
Below are the Arts & Letters student learning outcomes. Students are expected to achieve the college goals while studying aboard:

1-      Create a more sophisticated and intense undergraduate education

2-      Create a more global Arts and Letters

3-      Foster more opportunities for serious research among our undergraduates

 
Below is a matrix of the AL student learning outcomes with examples of how you might plan to develop (as well as demonstrate) those outcomes by the end of your senior year.  If you start working on it now by the end of your senior year your matrix will function as a master index and list of links to your most relevant accomplishments. Be sure to delete the directions and samples when you fill in your own.

Create a more sophisticated and intense undergraduate education

 

My senior thesis for my Program of Liberal Studies major is currently in process, heavily founded on the research I performed this summer studying in Tuscany, Italy. I was researching Dante's Divine Comedy and the poem's relationship with Italian Renaissance art.

 

Create a more global Arts and Letters

 

My blog gives evidence of my global experience while studying abroad. I also had to give memorized presentations to my Italian class completely in Italian; here is the text of my presentation on the movie Tangled. It was challenging but interesting to consider familiar topics in a foreign language.

 

Foster more opportunities for serious research among our undergraduates

 

The research I performed during the summer allowed me access to libraries, churches, and experiences beyond my wildest expectations. I researched in Tuscany, Italy, for two months during the summer of 2014 as the Monteverdi Scholar through the Program of Liberal Studies. The research will go toward my senior thesis. Here is a reflection from my research experience.
