As a faculty member in the First Year of Studies (FYS), Brady has a number of responsibilities beyond providing one-on-one advising to his students. These activities are meant to enhance the experience of Notre Dame undergraduates as well as the practice of academic advising more generally.

 

They currently include:

 

  • Researching a second book, tentatively titled Chained to History: Slavery and American Foreign Relations, 1776–1865
  • Preparing a class titled “Great American Presidents” to focus on the administrations of 14 significant American presidents and on their contributions to the development of the institution of the presidency
  • Serving as the faculty fellow for Cavanaugh Hall, an undergraduate women’s residence hall at Notre Dame; this year, he will be giving presentations on the history of the Vietnam War to the women of “Cav”
  • Participating as a member of the University’s History Core Curriculum Subcommittee
